BEDA Day 10

Elizabeth Lester. Is. My. Hero.

She just informed me that Cassondra Clare's City of Fallen Angels, which I have been waiting for for probably over a year now, HAS BEEN RELEASED FOR 5 DAYS AND I DIDN'T KNOW. HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?

Either way, I promptly marched myself over to Amazon and bought that baby for only $14. Hardcover. Yeah, that's right!

So that was a momentary distraction from my World Lit paper. I'm trying really hard to not watch Youtube or just stay on fb chat with my dear Emily and get some real work done on this paper, but let me tell you, it's hard. I basically know what I want to say, but forcing myself to put it on the virtual page that Open Office has created via pixels is really challenging. I'd much rather be watching Tangled or reading Anna and the French Kiss or eating dinner NOW because I'm ravenous, but alas, I must discuss why Grendel and Sir Gawain both being cowards means that Middle English readers expected their heros to be less heroic and their monsters to be less monstrous than we do in today's world. At least, that's the point I believe I'm attempting to make... in 5-6 double spaced pages.

The good news is that it's doable. It's gonna be a lot more doable than my last paper for this class, and I have her criticism to work on from the last one so hopefully I'll get an A on this paper and not a B+ like the last one. The question of the moment is, however, if I sluff off now, do I have time during the week to complete this?

Answer: probably not. I'm working Hamlet every night this week, and it's due Friday, so... I'll probably work on it when I'm not changing someone's costume, but tonight is first dress rehearsal, so I will have virtually no downtime tonight. Thus the pre-dinner frenzy to get some work done.

I have no idea why I'm saying any of this on my blog. It's not like it's interesting... Maybe I just need to write down my thoughts as I think them so that it's down somewhere where I can reflect on them and make a final decision. Ultimately I think I'm gonna put my nose to the grind stone. Unfortunately.

First countdown of the year!
